Vinyl is a synthetic material that gives a leather-like finish. It is thin, durable and waterproof. It comes in a vast range of colours and is our standard top cover.
As stated on the orthotic bag supplied with the orthotic, Orthotics should be removed from the shoe on a regular basis to aerate.
To clean wipe down easily with a wet cloth. CLICK HERE to view more info on what's available for each colour.
AMB stands for Anti-Microbial. It contains silver nitrate, which has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial properties. This cover is best used for sweaty and pungent feet. To clean, use soapy water. CLICK HERE to view available colours.
Microsuede is made of millions of fine 100% pure polyester fibres, yet feels like genuine suede. It is soft-to-touch, wear-resistant, stain-proof and is one of the easiest fabrics to keep clean. Commonly used in shoes where socks will not be worn, like sandals, as it is soft underfoot and breathable.
To clean, gently dab with a cloth dampened with lukewarm water. For harder spills, mildly soak with lukewarm water. Rub gently in a circular motion with a sponge or soft brush. Pat the area dry after cleaning. CLICK HERE to view the available colours.
Leather is a durable and flexible material created from cattle hide. It is breathable which helps with wear in the heat. It has a professional look that is preferred for many dress shoes.

Currently, our standard Neoprene is Opulex Performance. It is shock-absorbing, durable and has an inbuilt stretch nylon cloth top that is easy to clean. It is an excellent option for workers who are consistently on their feet or diabetic/rheumatology patients. 3mm Neoprene is also a great choice for preventing blisters, as it deals with both compression forces and shearing forces.
Things to consider when choosing Neoprene as a top cover:
As stated on the orthotic bag supplied with the orthotic, Orthotics should be removed from the shoe on a regular basis to aerate; this is especially the case with Neoprene. Constant wear or exercise without allowing the orthotic to aerate will break down the glue between the layers, which will result in the cloth top layer peeling off and exposing the rubber. We do not suggest Neoprene for patients who are very active or sweat excessively because of this.
Neoprene is best suited for heel cups 12mm or lower.
Certain biomechanical factors, like abductory twists or concentrated pressure points, can cause neoprene to wear out more quickly. In these cases, it is not a material fault, but it is recommended you adjust your prescription, such as changing the material, to better suit the patient's needs. If this occurs, we will cover the cost of one recover under warranty. However, a different material selection will be required.
To clean, wipe down with a wet cloth. Grey Bamboo is a softer fibre and performs differently to standard Opulex performance, CLICK HERE for the available colours.
Please note: If your selected colour/thickness is not available, we will use the closest possible.
Our default thickness is 1.5mm unless specified
Our high-performance EVA is the most durable, hardwearing and water-resistant material in stock. Our high-performance EVA comes in three densities and two thicknesses.
Variations:- (For high-performance Non-Swirl EVA)
Densities/Thicknesses:
High-Performance Firm (2mm): Recommended for longevity, construction workers, active kids, high-performance athletes, and patients with non-plantar foot pain.
High-Performance Medium (2mm/3mm): Recommended for patients with plantar foot pain or patients who require more cushioning
High-Performance Soft (2mm/3mm): Recommended for patients with significant plantar foot pain or when offloading is required. E.g. Plantar fibroma, rheumatoid nodules, painful heel spurs etc. (Note: due to the soft nature of this EVA it may bottom out with certain patients. This will not occur with the Orthotech medium or firm EVA.)

A felt-like material comprised of a non-woven cotton-polyester polyurethane blend. It absorbs moisture during regular wear and dries afterwards, however, if it gets wet it can get slimy so we do not recommend it for people in humid conditions or those that may sweat excessively.
It has a good premium-finish and thin cover and is a good replacement when leather and vinyl aren’t suitable. If you’re unfamiliar with this product and you are interested please contact us for a sample. CLICK HERE to view the available colours.
This is a closed-cell cross-linked polyethylene foam. Recommended for use with accommodative devices, such as for diabetic patients and those with rheumatoid arthritis to offload areas of high pressure.
It is not suitable for functional devices. CLICK HERE to view the available colours.
For no cover, you have the option of smooth or rough. This selection will change the appearance and feel of all shell materials, except for 3D print.
With polypropylene, EVA and composite, when smooth is selected, we will grind away the wood and ridges from the wood positive that we press on, without doing this, the shell is unwearable without a top cover. Rough is the best selection for when clients are wanting to cover the orthotics themselves, it has a better grip to the glue and top cover when left as is.
With the 3D print shell, the material allows for both options; no covers or easy to glue.
Please note: If your selected colour or thickness is unavailable, we will use the closest possible alternative. Material type, density, and thickness are prioritised over colour.
