Vinyl

Vinyl is a synthetic material that gives a leather-like finish. It is thin, durable and waterproof. It comes in a vast range of colours and is our standard top cover. As stated on the orthotic bag supplied with the orthotic, Orthotics should be removed from the shoe on a regular basis to aerate.
To clean wipe down easily with a wet cloth. CLICK HERE to view available colours.

AMB

AMB stands for Anti-Microbial. It contains silver nitrate, which has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial properties. This cover is best used for sweaty and pungent feet. To clean, use soapy water. CLICK HERE to view available colours.

Microsuede

Microsuede is made of millions of fine 100% pure polyester fibres, yet feels like genuine suede. It is soft-to-touch, wear-resistant, stain-proof and is one of the easiest fabrics to keep clean. Commonly used in shoes where socks will not be worn, like sandals, as it is soft underfoot and breathable.
To clean, gently dab with a cloth dampened with lukewarm water. For harder spills, mildly soak with lukewarm water. Rub gently in a circular motion with a sponge or soft brush. Pat the area dry after cleaning. CLICK HERE to view the available colours.

Leather

Leather is a durable and flexible material created from cattle hide. It is breathable which helps with wear in the heat. It has a professional look that is preferred for many dress shoes. To clean, wipe down with a wet cloth and dry naturally. CLICK HERE to view the available colours.

Neoprene

Currently, our standard Neoprene is Opulex Performance. It is shock-absorbing, durable and has an inbuilt stretch nylon cloth top that is easy to clean. It is an excellent option for workers who are consistently on their feet or diabetic/rheumatology patients.

As stated on the orthotic bag supplied with the orthotic, Orthotics should be removed from the shoe on a regular basis to aerate; this is especially the case with Neoprene. Constant wear or exercise without allowing the orthotic to aerate will break down the glue between the layers, which will result in the cloth top layer peeling off and exposing the rubber. We do not suggest Neoprene for patients who are very active or sweat excessively because of this.

EVA

Our EVA is the Lunasoft range. 2mm is the standard thickness and 3mm is available on request. This is the most durable, hardwearing and water-resistant material in stock. It is a good option if your patient participates in impact sports. To clean, wipe down easily with a wet cloth. Please click to view the available colours and thicknesses HERE.

Perf. EVA

This is the same great quality Lunasoft EVA as above but perforated with holes for aeration and breathability. It is best used for active patients that may excessively sweat or have pungent feet. To clean, wipe down easily with a wet cloth. CLICK HERE to view the available colours.

PS Vlies

A felt-like material comprised of a non-woven cotton-polyester polyurethane blend. It absorbs moisture during regular wear and dries afterwards, however, if it gets wet it can get slimy so we do not recommend it for people in humid conditions or those that may sweat excessively. It has a good premium-finish and thin cover and is a good replacement when leather and vinyl aren’t suitable. If you’re unfamiliar with this product and you are interested please contact us for a sample. CLICK HERE to view the available colours.

Plastazote

This is a closed-cell cross-linked polyethylene foam. Recommended for use with accommodative devices, such as for diabetic patients and those with rheumatoid arthritis to offload areas of high pressure. It is not suitable for functional devices. CLICK HERE to view the available colours.

No Cover

For no cover, you have the option of smooth or rough. This selection will change the appearance and feel of all shell materials, except for 3D print. With polypropylene, EVA and composite, when smooth is selected, we will grind away the wood and ridges from the wood positive that we press on, without doing this, the shell is unwearable without a top cover. Rough is the best selection for when clients are wanting to cover the orthotics themselves, it has a better grip to the glue and top cover when left as is. With the 3D print shell, the material allows for both options; no covers or easy to glue.

Poron Options

Poron

Poron is a fine pitch open-cell urethane foam. It is soft and cushioning, yet also long-lasting and offers high-performance shock absorption for toughest daily wear. It has been engineered to provide maximum repeated shock absorption from minimum thickness. While poron is not recommended as a standalone top cover, it is a great mid-layer and is widely used by podiatrists. We advise against using it as the outer-most or bottom-most layer because it will tear and become damaged quickly when exposed to direct torsion forces. This does not occur when it is protected by an additional top cover. You must specify the thickness of the poron that you want: 1.6mm, 3.2mm or 6.4mm.

XRD Poron

XRD Poron is ideal for use where protection, comfort and consistent performance are required, use after use. It is comfortable, flexible, and lightweight, allowing for soft, non-constricting padding and cushioning while still absorbing more than 90% of energy when impacted at high strain rates. You must specify the thickness of the poron that you want - 3.2mm. CLICK HERE to view the available colours.

Slow Release Poron

Also known as Slow Recovery, Slow Release Poron is designed for accommodation and deflections in mind.
It is suggested for high-pressure areas that need offloading yet still requiring a soft surface, most commonly seen for diabetic and rheumatology patients, and is complemented often with a top cover of Plastazote, however, it can be used with any top cover option.
Slow Release Poron is available in 1.6mm, 3.2mm and 6.4mm. You must specify on the prescription form in Notes for Lab Staff if you would like Slow Release Poron in place of poron.
Please Note: We do not suggest Slow Release Poron for very active patients as it can tear under pressure.

Mid-layer Option

You may select a mid-layer option between the top cover and the shell, and this can be out of poron or another top cover that is available in either 2mm or 3mm thickness.

A mid-layer option will not be blended on the shell, therefore exposing the material sides on the shell, unlike traditional poron blending methods. This creates more cushioning on the shell; however, it increases the risk of wear and tear on the mid-layer at a quicker rate.

Using two top covers, like EVA with leather on top, allows for a luxury feel of leather, with the benefits of EVA and so on.

Please Note: You will be charged for two top covers; please view our latest price list for prices.

Bottom Cover Options

Cambrelle

Cambrelle® is the worlds leading footwear lining. It offers comfort, abrasion resistance, and moisture management through bi-component fibres.

Cambrelle is our standard bottom over; it is placed on all sulcus and full-length devices.

Agotex

Agotex is a bottom cover (backing). It is thicker and has a stiffer feel compared to vinyl and cambrelle. It is a soft, flexible cloth woven from a highly textured fibreglass and is coated one side with a proprietary treatment that provides outstanding abrasion resistance, higher temperature capability and better molten metal splash resistance.
